2 Chronicles 1 - The Great Question

Updated: Feb 12, 2021

And make me wise, give me the knowledge and understanding I will need to be the Godly king of this great nation of yours. ~ Solomon, 2 Chronicles 1

What if you were whisked away into a Disney movie today and a big blue genie granted you one wish? What would it be? We see Solomon given this amazing opportunity in the first chapter of 2 Chronicles, not by some animated fictitious genie, but by the very creator of the universe, Almighty God. And when asked, Solomon showed he listened well to his father David (1 Chron 22:12). Solomon asked for wisdom and understanding in ruling. Specifically, for wisdom in order to be the best king he could be for God. For understanding to rule a stiff-necked people in a manner that would not please others, but please God. You might be thinking this is only a one-time offer from God presented to Solomon, but did you know that God today makes you the same offer? Did you know that God will grant you whatever you need to do the job that He has given you? Yep, if you ask with a heart that beats pure for God, He will grant you whatever you need to do the task He has assigned you to His glory.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” John 15:7

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” 1 John 5:14

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

God has a job for you today; a job that will glorify Him and build His kingdom. And if you approach Him with humility, praise, and love that flow from a pure heart, He will see to it that you are as equipped as mighty Solomon. Ask away.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom…” Proverbs 1:7
