2 Chronicles 7 - Forever and a Day

Updated: Feb 12, 2021

“When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground and worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “For He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever.” 2 Chronicles 7:3

Have you ever heard a kid trying to outdo another with how long they can do something? Forever times 2. Infinity plus one. A billion times a billion times a billion. But have you ever thought about the simple logic of forever? Forever is endless, forever is boundless, without beginning or end. If you were to stretch out forever into the future, God would be there. If you were to stretch out forever into the past, God would be there to meet you wherever you paused along the way. God is in the forever in any direction you can perceive. And as you consider this infinitum forever and the one constant that adheres it, you will find that constant to be God’s love. A love that defines God. A love that drives mankind, defines existence, and outstretches the boundaries of time. Before you existed, God knew you and loved you. As you were conceived, God lovingly knitted you in your mother’s womb and gifted you a soul, specially designed by Him. And as you grew and fell into sin, God had already loved you enough to provide for you a secure eternity. He loved you enough to make a way for your soul to be united with Him. And to do that He sent His only Son Jesus Christ here to die at the hands of the very sinners He came to save. While we were still sinners, Jesus Christ died for us, the utter definition of love, shown in a beaten and battered body upon a cross. The love of God was fully manifested three days later as Jesus rose, conquering the death penalty of our sinful rebellion against God. Love, true love, exists in the unshakable, unchanging, unwavering love of God. A love that endures forever. And His love for you stretches into the forever of eternity in any direction time can travel. God loves you forever times forever.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
