JOHN 19

Happy Aloha Friday! Another super fun day filled with new and exciting tasks learning about the new position. What a joy to love what you do and to love who you work with!

So in order to get in my 5MC this morning before work I got up extra early but still didn't have time to write. So just like yesterday, I'm taking some time tonight to re-read what I read this morning and then write before bed.

I covered John chapter 19 today, the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus. In any of the gospels this is always a hard read for me. To read about the suffering that Jesus endured is tough. He was sinless, He was perfect, He was innocent. Yet there he was, flogged, beaten, mocked and hung on a tree. All in my place.

I think about the fact that I was the one that deserved that punishment. I'm the sinner, I'm just like the 2 that hung beside him that day, thieves, sinners, imperfect before God. But because God's love for me is so deep, he sent Jesus in my place. My human mind can't fathom this kind of love.

God the father had told Jesus what must take place in order to save mankind from their sins and Jesus was obedient to the Fathers command even unto death. (Phillipians 2:8 "and being found in human form, he humbled himself by being obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross") That is a perfect, sacrificial, loving obedience that defies my logic.

It makes me think of my obedience to God and what He is asking of me and my life. Sometimes I may think His request of me is too great. His demands of me are unrealistic, too much. All I have to do is recall John chapter 19 and what He asked of Jesus. Jesus paid it all. Jesus gave it all. He was tortured, hung on a Cross and died for my sins. Sins which should have resulted in my eternal separation from God. But that's not happening. I'm a child of God, I have a home in heaven and will someday be able to gaze upon the face of God with Jesus at His right hand and worship them forever. Why? Because of what Jesus did on the cross that day.

Beautiful, perfect, loving obedience. Even unto death. All for me. All for you.

May you be obedient to His call in your life today.
