JOHN 5

Good morning beloved, happy Thursday! It's another beautiful day around the Potter household here in Fort Worth as we look forward to another joyful day of serving the Lord & others. Sometimes it can be as simple as rolling in your neighbors trash cans or a quick phone call to someone that's on your mind but either way, seize the opportunity to bless someone today, don't let it get away!

Margie & I had a great time at Wednesday night bible study last night in Pastor Bryan's study of 2 Peter chapter 3. It's always a great time to get together & talk about God's Word & hear how he speaks to others on the same passage. Being among other believers is a true blessing from God, I hope you're taking advantage of this blessing on some level in your walk!

I spent my 5MC in chapter 5 of John this morning. I had a question about the Holy Trinity yesterday & then this morning here in chapter 5 of John Jesus talks at length about His relationship with the Father. Ths is no accident so I felt this as a prompting from God to spend a bit expounding on the Trinity of God here in the 5MC.

By the way...There's a great trustworthy website I use called GotQuestions.org where you can enter in any questions you might have about God, Jesus, doctrine, scripture or apologetics and it will answer it quickly & simply. If you have questions, give it a try.

Lets start with the answer from Got Questions.org on "what is the Trinity?"

Answer: "The Trinity is Christianity’s most unique, defining, incomprehensible, and awesome mystery. It is the revelation of who our Almighty Creator actually is—not just a god, but an infinite Being existing in eternity as three co-equal, infinite Persons, consubstantial yet distinct. The origin of the doctrine of the Trinity is the Bible, God's Holy Word.

As all Christians agree, the doctrine of the Trinity holds that God is one essence but three Persons; God has one nature, but three centers of consciousness; God is only one What, but three Who's. The doctrine of the Trinity is a mystery revealed by God in His Word."

The trinity is difficult to fully understand but I always say, do you want a God you can fully understand and explain with your 3 pound brain? I revel in serving the God of the universe, the creator of time & matter and the God that breathed life into existence. In all humility we just need to admit that we were not meant to understand everything...we are not God & can not think like Him.

Here's how I understand the trinity. God the Father is in Heaven and has never been seen by man. (John 1:18) After the fall of man due to the introduction of sin by Adam & Eve, every person born after inherited a sin nature. Since God cannot be in the presence of sin and because of His love for the world (John 3:16) He made a way for us to be able to come into His presence one day in Heaven. To do this He needed to replace the constant need for Old Testament sacrifices with one perfect sacrifice for all time. He sent His only Son to the Earth to take on Human form, be born of a virgin as to not inherit the sin nature and then to die & be that prefect sacrifice for all sinners, past, present & future. Jesus rose after three days & ascended into Heaven to sit at the right hand of God until He comes back for His church. Upon ascension He left us a 'helper' or the Holy Spirit of God that lives within anyone that calls upon the name of Jesus to be their savior. The Holy Spirit, guides, convicts and helps us to hear God's voice in our lives. So here you have the trinity, One God in three persons, the Father, Son & Holy Spirit.

This is a very deep topic, if you have questions, ask. If you go to church, ask your Pastor or bible study teacher. If you don't go to church ask a friend or neighbor you know that goes to church or you can always give me a call & we can talk or grab coffee.

Besides asking questions of others, I encourage you to research on your own. Matthew 7:7 says "seek and you will find". If you seek God He will make Himself known to you.

Much love & blessings for your walk today.
