El hijo sabio atiende a la corrección de su padre, pero el insolente no hace caso a la reprensión.
2 Quien habla el bien, del bien se nutre, pero el infiel padece hambre de violencia.
3 El que refrena su lengua protege su vida, pero el ligero de labios provoca su ruina.
4 El perezoso ambiciona, y nada consigue; el diligente ve cumplidos sus deseos.
5 El justo aborrece la mentira; el malvado acarrea vergüenza y deshonra.
6 La justicia protege al que anda en integridad, pero la maldad arruina al pecador.
7 Hay quien pretende ser rico, y no tiene nada; hay quien parece ser pobre, y todo lo tiene.
8 Con su riqueza el rico pone a salvo su vida, pero al pobre no hay ni quien lo amenace.
9 La luz de los justos brilla radiante, pero los malvados son como lámpara apagada.
10 El orgullo solo genera contiendas, pero la sabiduría está con quienes oyen consejos.
11 El dinero mal habido pronto se acaba; quien ahorra, poco a poco se enriquece.
12 La esperanza frustrada aflige al corazón; el deseo cumplido es un árbol de vida.
13 Quien se burla de la instrucción tendrá su merecido; quien respeta el mandamiento tendrá su recompensa.
14 La enseñanza de los sabios es fuente de vida, y libera de los lazos de la muerte.
15 El buen juicio redunda en aprecio, pero el camino del infiel no cambia.
16 El prudente actúa con cordura, pero el necio se jacta de su necedad.
17 El mensajero malvado se mete en problemas; el enviado confiable aporta la solución.

4 A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
5 The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked make themselves a stench and bring shame on themselves.
6 Righteousness guards the person of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
7 One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8 A person’s riches may ransom their life, but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.
9 The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
